Resident Dot Govern celebrated her 100th birthday this past Thursday, April 2! Since she’s honoring the social distancing protocol, staff unfurled a banner and sang from outside as she looked on from her balcony. Dot downloaded Zoom on her computer independently so she could have a virtual celebration with family, including all 8 of her children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a grandnephew, who dialed in from locales as far-flung as Toronto Canada, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Colorado, California and Minnesota, as well as Seattle, Shoreline, Vashon, and Lopez. Aloha! We decided to warm up a bit and go Hawaiian on our Daily Wave Walk. Armed with Hawaiian music and afternoon sunshine, the staff and residents gathered to say a friendly Aloha to one another. “Grand Marshal” Bob Bowen, Director of Philanthropy, led the event in a decorated golf cart.
